Foundations Program

A welcoming first step into Secret Improv Academy: games, scene work, confidence, and ensemble play.

About this program

Discover the world of improvisation in a fun and supportive environment. Explore basic improv skills through a variety of fast-paced and creative activities. Perfect for those looking to boost creativity, improve social skills, and just have a great time! Learn improv's basic tenets that unlock everyone's potential to create without limits, collaborate, and navigate the world you create. From the most basic of rules: "Yes, and" to infusing your world with nuance, fun, and excitement that audiences will love, the wonders of improvisation begin with strong Foundations.

What to expect

Classes run from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. We create an informal, playful, and welcoming atmosphere, essential for improvisation. Students will play simple games to develop the necessary skills to be present, creative, and cooperative. Most games are played standing up in a circle or moving around the stage, and students can determine their level of mobility. Games are respectful and fun, and they respect the player's space. Come prepared to move freely, and bring water or snacks if you need them. There is a 7-11 right next door. Wear layers you can remove as you warm up.
